Web Hosting FAQ
Can ZopeTopia design my website?
Of course!
We can do everything from simple static informational sites
right on up to sophisticated database-backed Web applications.
on our website design services.
Can Zope host my site if I use Microsoft FrontPage?
Sure, with some caveats.
FrontPage can generate standard HTML files which you can upload directly into Zope.
However, you cannot use FrontPage "extensions" in Zope. Extensions let you add
pages like contact forms to your FrontPage site, but Zope includes much more powerful
interactive capabilities than FrontPage does.
Can I run CGI scripts?
Yes, if you sign up for one of our packages with Unix shell access.
We have Perl 5.6 and Python 2.2 installed.
But bear in mind that Zope's dynamic website capabilites are
much easier to use and higher performing than traditional CGI scripts.
Can I host multiple domain names with the same package?
Yes.
Setup for one domain name is included with each package.
There is a onetime US$25 setup fee for each additional domain name.
Bear in mind that disk and transfer allowances are per
package, not per domain name.
Do you have PHP installed?
Not at this time.
We believe that by specializing in Zope hosting,
we can offer superior services and support to our customers.
Generally speaking, Zope's capabilities for building dynamic websites are at
least as powerful as PHP's, but Zope has other advantages including its built-in
through-the-Web management interface whereas PHP requires that you be fairly familiar
with the Unix command-line.
However, if you must use PHP, contact us
and we'll see what we can do for you.
What databases do you support?
We currently have installed (and use ourselves) MySQL, which can be used either
through Zope or via the Unix shell.
Is SSL available?
SSL ("Secure Sockets Layer") encrypts Internet TCP/IP connections allowing for
secure e-commerce transactions.
ZopeTopia only supports SSL in conjunction with the
BigBiz Custom package. There is a onetime
US$100 setup fee plus an additional charge of US$25/month for the extra IP
address and CPU usage.
