DNS

What is DNS?

DNS stands for "Domain Name System". It's what allows you to type the domain name www.ZopeTopia.com into your browser instead of the IP ("Internet Protocol") number 69.44.57.21, which is the number of the ZopeTopia Web server.

The DNS system maps domain names, which are easy for people to remember, to the IP numbers that uniquely identify every computer on the Internet.

Why Do I Need DNS?

Once you've registered a domain name, you need to register it with the DNS system so that other people on the Internet can find the computers that host your website and handle your email.

Beware of some domain name registrars that hit you with exhorbitant DNS fees after you've registered your domain name with them.

How Much Does it Cost?

If you register a domain name with ZopeTopia or sign up for any of our other services, we will include DNS service free of charge.

What's the catch? How can we offer DNS service for free when others charge big money to do it? Simply put, it doesn't cost us anything, and saves us in support costs.

The bandwidth requirements for DNS servers are negligible and if we handle our customers' DNS needs, it means we can offer more reliable service and spare our customers the aggravation of updating arcane DNS settings.
